At a time when the world seems to be in turmoil with environmental and other issues causing us to question many aspects of our lives and the way we live, it’s easy to take life very seriously. After all, why wouldn’t we take life seriously?!

This was the questions George Halfin, project manager at a national charity, Innate Health coach, and mum of two found herself contemplating at the start of the pandemic. Furloughed from her job, struggling with home-schooling and with her husband’s work also in flux she began thinking seriously about her situation and the state of the world. Thanks to her own journey of self-discovery, she saw that when she was in her head resisting what is, she wasn’t present to the wonder of her children and the beauty of the nature around her. She also saw that she was resisting and putting a lid on the essence and source of creativity and possibility that was bubbling under the surface, ready to burst forth when she let her personal thinking get out of the way and was able to just be.

That’s what happened at three o’clock in the morning in July 2020 when inspiration struck and she had the idea to create a book called ‘A Life Less Serious’ which shared stories of women who had seen the power in looking in the opposite direction to their serious thinking and the impact that had on them and their lives. And perhaps through reading these personal stories the people who read her book may get to see beyond their serious, self-limiting thinking so that their own light shines brighter in the world.
